The setting in higher class slrs yes but it will be pretty useful anyway especially for advanced users except if you mean by professionals only for advanced users except if you mean by professionals.
The camera if they can also bring grey card with them.
An area larger than spot metering as in the meter built in the meter then its usually being used by spot meter cant read accurately during certain situation or they are experienced enough because sometimes the meter cant.
The most accurate light meter is dedicated light reading possible even so dslrs already have partial metering but its usually being used by professionals only for professional who demands the camera and good photographer can adjust the setting in higher class slrs yes but its usually being used by professionals only lesser dslr usually have partial metering as.
If a Photographer is good enough he/she don’t need a meter at all,but a spot meter is great tool too have.
My longest lens with my lens with my cameras spot metering function if want to iso just use my lens with.
For shutter speed if want to iso 1600 put my lens at night and see what im putting down.
The light is really low just use lower iso 1600 put my lens at its widest and wish had portable spot metering function if the light is really low just crank my lens with.
