Resolved Question: Did I ruin my Sony digital camera by taking a picture of the sun at midday?

I have a higher end Sony Cyber shot digital camera that I’ve had for 2 or so years. Last weekend I took a picture of the sun at midday and I now noticed all pictures I take with it after that now have a super fine white line running across the frame vertically about 1/4 of the frame (left side) from top to bottom.
You can hardly see it, but when you zoom into the picture it’s there. I tried looking online but I have not seen anything regarding damage caused by doing this.
Well, if I ruined it it’s my fault. but does doing this cause damage? *if so, I won’t do this anymore*
